Final Installation Post

I really enjoyed doing this art installation. It was a very educational experience, and has me contemplating what my future art installations will look like. Outside of fashion, I haven't really interacted with many tangible art forms. This experience definitely helped me think about how you can alter a physical space to place the audience in new and unique spaces.

I love changing a space to create a certain environment. The idea of thrusting people in a space they don't expect to be in is very cool to me.

I went to this place called Meow Wolf in Santa Fe. I'm not sure if you've been or heard about it, but they transport you into different worlds as you explore a seemingly normal house. It's hard to describe, but this project made me think of this exhibit. A very new idea that I would love to try and do my own version of some day.

This exhibit went well. I will be filming my footage and taking pictures of my models on Tuesday, there has been many schedules to work on since it is located in Tandem, and I have to work during the business hours. So, sorry if it is not up here at the time of viewing.

I believe the best way to view the art that I am thinking will be on video. The music and editing will complete the final touches, and deliver the desired effect. I hope.

I successfully covered the floors and 3 walls. I left the other wall untouched, partly because I liked the brick and partly because the tin foil would not stay in place. Probably due to the fact I was using double sided tape.

LONELI Art Installation Description

 I want to have long strips of translucent plastic (acrylic) to act as a doorway into the space. I want the lights to have a dull, muted feel, so I will cover them with plastic to give that feeling. I was thinking maybe use black plastic to help add to the feeling of loneliness.  I think I will put a chair in the middle of the room that gives the viewer a place to sit and experience the art. But will this take away from the overall feel of loneliness in the room? Maybe the chair would be to grounding, and remind them of reality?  I will cover the ground with acrylic as well, to give the room an even more disorientating feel. The ground will be difficult to see. I think my main strategy for making the viewer for making the viewer feel the emotion of loneliness if by stripping them of everything that reminds them of the reality they know. Maybe by placing things that are a part of reality as they know, but are negative things, would help the viewer make the association? Like maybe trash

No. 1 - Three Objects

When I began to search for three objects to photograph, the vocal tuner was the first thing that I felt like anything of substance. It is rusted on the metal part, has an interesting weight to it, a square font, and holes along the side. While it is something that does serve a purpose and is useful, I have never once used it for its purpose. It was my grandmothers, I'm not sure why I still have it, but somehow it made it's way from back home all the way up here with me to college. I don't have any other objects that from home, and I definitely do no have anything else from my grandparents so I think it's funny that I still have this. As I began looking for other objects, I wanted to find something that had the least amount of value to me, that still served a purpose. I eventually found this cigarette filter.
